Escape was a British comics magazine that ran for 19 issues in the 1980s. Although Neil only contributed scattered reviews, the magazine is important to his career. Escape regularly printed short comics. Violent Cases was originally intended to be published in Escape until Neil realized that instead of 5 pages it would be 40. Escape published Violent Cases as a graphic novel instead, which became Neil's first success in comics.
